London Fashion Week S/S2012 Highlights

It’s taken me a little while to get round to writing this post. My usual habit after a mammoth working week is to just keep on going but this month has been really challenging so I decided that straight after LFW I would avoid my laptop, shun all work emails and really try to do nothing so that I might enjoy physical and mental rest and recuperation. But now I find myself ready to reflect on Fashion Week and my personal highlights..

Below – some snapshots from LFW S/S12

The lightbulbs at the My Beautiful Fashion venue on New Oxford Street. It was great discovering that someone I used to intern with at Robinson Pfeffer is now working for MBF and catching up with her briefly after a show.

Eudon Choi is my favourite emerging designer right now and his S/S12 collection moved away from his signature utilitarian vibe into something more sportsluxe. And colour! I loved it.

The Felicity Brown presentation at the Royal Opera House complete with violinist in A/W11 FB – exquisite.

The Zoe Jordan show, inspired by Little Edie in Grey Gardens, was an absolute winner for me (and very autumnal for a Spring collection). After the gorgeous show I got to go backstage and chat to Zoe herself.

On Monday 19th I went backstage at Antonio Berardi to see the preparations for the 10am catwalk show. I was delighted to meet manicurist Sophy Robson and get snap happy around the fabulous slicked back hair looks courtesy of John Frieda.

I then hotfotted it front of house with Miss B and her fabulous glitter Miu Mius to catch the show which was characteristically gorgeous.

I got to sit front row at Pringle of Scotland where Abbey Lee opened the show. Alistair Carr‘s debut Pringle show was such a new turn for the heritage brand and I’m really excited to see the next stages of its reincarnation. If S/S12 is anything to go by, Pringle is in safe hands.

Katie B and me (wearing Lucy Jay) waiting for the Todd Lynn show to start..

I’ve attended LFW every season since September 2009 but attending as part of Team LLG aka LibertyLondonGirl.com has been quite a different experience to say the least. LLG really does open doors and I’ve been so privileged to be able to join Sasha and Miss B as well as the lovely LLG assistant Katie B for this season. The pictures I’ve put up here don’t even begin to portray the mad, exhausting, fabulous week. The first day I survived purely on cake, frozen yoghurt and vitamin water; I got to ride in the Mercedes-Benz, sit front row next to my editor idols, witness gorgeous shows and generally be a part of a much-envied tradeshow.

Here’s to S/S12 and London! There’s plenty to celebrate in the capital right now.

DAY TWO

Excuse the lateness of this post! Last night I attended my bff’s housewarming so wasn’t able to get a post up.

First order of the day was Danielle Scutt – lots of velvet, lattice dresses and big bling – including earrings with blonde plaits (check out the last picture).  All jewellery is Danielle Scutt for Topshop – I cannot wait to get my hands on some of that.

Plus I happened to sit right behind Andrea Pfeffer of Robinson Pfeffer who I used to intern for.  It was lovely to see her!

At the Tosha salon show a concise collection of ten LBDs with glorious ruffles made a rather understated statement.

I fell in love with the Elliot J Frieze collection as soon as I read the press release, never mind saw it!  Chocolate and biscuit-coloured corduroy suits and trench dresses.  There was a definite 70’s vibe.  I can safely say I’ve never seen so much cord on the catwalk.  I was overjoyed.  (My pictures just don’t do it justice..)

I managed to pop into Una Burke’s presentation at Vauxhall Fashion Scout.  I interviewed her via email for the new issue of 1883.  Her leather accessories are amazing and she’s always got such a great story as her inspiration.  She’s a real artist.

In the afternoon we went to Topshop to film the ‘Blogging from the Front Row’ workshop with Zoe from Topshop’s Inside-Out blog and Susie Lau.  It was manic at Topshop – obviously, it being a Saturday afternoon n all.  But it was a good talk and very interesting to see ‘backstage’ at Topshop HQ!

Later, I went along to Carlotta Gherzi for Sado, which was surprisingly girlie and summery for an AW collection, and then to Olivia Rubin which took place at Jalouse, a club a stone’s throw from Vogue House.  I am absolutely in love with this collection and hope to get some images to upload here…

P.S. Sorry for no outfit posts – it’s actually been near impossible to meet up with Alessandro so far.  That’s LFW I’m afraid!
