Sunday morning

Today is dedicated to life admin – putting some old uni books on Amazon, cleaning up my desktop, household chores and so on. To start the day I’ve been cleaning out my inbox and came across some interesting reads and offers.

Currently reading:

In Pictures – Frida Kahlo’s Wardrobe on AnOther – a look back at Frida Kahlo’s life and style as the Frida Kahlo Museum (Casa de Azul, her former home) hosts the exhibition Appearances can be deceiving: Frida Kahlo’s Wardrobe.

17-71: The make-up swap – a 17 year old Scarlett and a 71 year old Scarlett publish the results of swapping make-up bags for a week.

A tour of Brooklyn in the footsteps of Lena Dunham’s Girls – The Guardian’s Rebecca Nicholson sees what Brooklyn has to offer.

Fashion Abecedaire – one of my absolute favourite blogs. Sometimes I go weeks without having a moment to read everything I want to and then I find I have a whole host of things to catch up on. Reading through FA’s posts one after the other is a joy.

Currently shopping:

The amazing Mimi Holliday sale on Cocosa

Valentine’s Lingerie on Vogue.co.uk

Disclaimer: I’m not really one for the whole Valentine’s day charade but I figure a girl should always have good lingerie..

365 layers

Makes you think doesn’t it? This reminds me of my adolescence – when I’d complain of bad skin my mother would tell me to let it rest and breathe for a day by going au natural. I could think of nothing more repulsive.

Prada and Chanel do videos

Welcome to a new era of fashion promotion.

Chanel : Robots from Jonathan Experton on Vimeo.

Prada SS11 Campaign Film from F.TAPE on Vimeo.

I absolutely adore these short films.  It’s not only the visuals but the way they’ve both used a kind of disjointed affect/stop animation.  Plus the music is so funky.  (In Prada, the music is Ratatat’s song ‘Mirando’)

I can’t help but smile!
