News for the ‘Shopping’ Category

Sunday morning

Today is dedicated to life admin – putting some old uni books on Amazon, cleaning up my desktop, household chores and so on. To start the day I’ve been cleaning out my inbox and came across some interesting reads and offers.

Currently reading:

In Pictures – Frida Kahlo’s Wardrobe on AnOther – a look back at Frida Kahlo’s life and style as the Frida Kahlo Museum (Casa de Azul, her former home) hosts the exhibition Appearances can be deceiving: Frida Kahlo’s Wardrobe.

17-71: The make-up swap – a 17 year old Scarlett and a 71 year old Scarlett publish the results of swapping make-up bags for a week.

A tour of Brooklyn in the footsteps of Lena Dunham’s Girls – The Guardian’s Rebecca Nicholson sees what Brooklyn has to offer.

Fashion Abecedaire – one of my absolute favourite blogs. Sometimes I go weeks without having a moment to read everything I want to and then I find I have a whole host of things to catch up on. Reading through FA’s posts one after the other is a joy.

Currently shopping:

The amazing Mimi Holliday sale on Cocosa

Valentine’s Lingerie on

Disclaimer: I’m not really one for the whole Valentine’s day charade but I figure a girl should always have good lingerie..

How can I possibly choose between these two pairs of Dr. Martens?

Shopping Nights

Retailers are really pushing the boat out when it comes to getting you to part with your cash this Christmas. This week Vogue has kicked off Online Fashion Week, plus I have recently written about Boxpark in Shoreditch on Twin and the Columbia Road late night openings, not to mention last week I went to the Seven Dials / Carnaby Street 20% off shopping evening where shoppers were plied with champagne and mince pies.

Well, it seems if it’s not online late night openings are where it’s at. Notting Hill is getting in on the action this Thursday. One of my new fave brands Paper London are there, offering discounts, music and booze! Others involved include Helmut Lang, Les Petits, Joseph, Sandro and Miller Harris. For the full list of participating boutiques and discounts see here

The Move

So the reason I’ve been even worse than usual with blogging is that I’ve been looking for a new flat. N. and I are moving in with a friend of mine, E.

We finally managed to find somewhere and we’re moving in a week!

We’ll be sitting in the garden next weekend *prays for sun*

So now all my efforts are going into packing everything up, getting rid of junk on eBay and planning what furniture I will get for our new pad..

I love this idea for the bedroom

For wordsmiths and wo/men of letters there is surely no greater gift than this – The Times of New York candle.  Its scent, comprised of guaicwood, cedar, spice and musk, is supposed to give off the smell of freshly printed ink on newspaper.  The brainchild of the late Tobias Wong it was created by Josée Lepage, creative director of Bondtoo.  Unfortunately the limited edition candle has already sold out but at $65 you were probably better off taking a trip to News International anyway…
